HA NOI — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung yesterday said training classes for senior Party and Government officials should focus on national security and defence.

"It would foster their leadership capability, a fundamental building block for the all-people national defence and security," he said at a meeting with the National Defence Academy.

Dung said the Party and State thought security and maintaining social order were as important as developing the socio-economy and Party building activities.

The country would employ all efforts to achieve higher economic growth, to improve the stability of macro-economy, curb inflation and ensure stable politics and social security.

Dung asked students of the academy to meet all the requirements of the courses. This, he said, would teach them how to implement the tasks of socio-economic development, national defence and security consolidation.

He also urged the lecturers of the academy to keep updating and improving the curriculum and pedagogy. — VNS
