Government, Fatherland Front need co-ordination

HA NOI — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung yesterday said that co-ordination activities between the Government and the Viet Nam Fatherland Front should be increased to meet socio-economic development targets set by the National Assembly.

He made the statement in a working session between the Government and the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee.

This year, the Government and VFF Central Committee have prioritised co-ordination in implementing national programmes on hunger eradication, poverty reduction, accommodation for the poor and improving education in rural areas.

Also on the agenda at the session were economic restructuring, social welfare, corruption and addressing people's complaints and petitions.

Dung said it was necessary to focus on educating people to take part in patriotic emulation movements and socio-economic development activities.

He also said he highly valued the solidarity building achievements of last year's co-ordination activities between the Government and the committee which had ensured socio-economic democracy.

The working session heard that relevant agencies of the Government and the committee had created favourable conditions for religious freedom, where religions were practised in accordance with the law. — VNS
