You asked (04-10-2011)
Dear Sir/Madam, We are very impressed with Ho Thi Hieu, a Se Dang nurse that saved a five-day new-born from being buried alive and decided to adopt him, as published by Viet Nam News. We would like to contact her to see if we can help. Do you have her address?
Thank you for your help.
Best regards,
Robert Veldhuis
Dear Mr Veldhuis,
Thank you for your message.
We are glad to inform you that nurse Ho Thi Hieu is now the official mother of the infant as the adoption procedure has been completed.
(The Se Dang boy was supposed to be buried with his mother who died after giving birth on September 2 at her house in Tra Cang Commune, Nam Tra My District, Quang Nam Province.
Ms Hieu, a single 24-year-old working at the communal clinic, managed to take him away when the old custom was about to be carried out after desperate efforts to persuade villagers to give up the inhumane tradition.)
The boy, who was then named Ho Quoc Khanh to mark his birthday on National Day, is now in good health.
Ms Hieu can be contacted on her mobile number 01666880569.
Following is her postal address in both English and Vietnamese.
