Floor collapses at building site
HCM CITY — A 100sq.m concrete floor that had just been built collapsed at a construction site in HCM City's Phu My Hung urban area yesterday morning but no one was hurt. Some 100 workers were working at the Crescent Shopping Mall site when the mishap occurred, leaving the steel columns uncovered.
A spokesperson for Phu My Hung JSC, the shopping mall investor, told Viet Nam News that it was a minor accident and would not affect the progress of the work.
The US$105 million Crescent Shopping Mall, being built since last year by China State Construction Eng Corp, will have three basements and six floors and is scheduled to be finished next year.
Worker dies as 50m antenna collapses BAC LIEU — A 50m Hoa Binh District's Radio Station antenna mast collapsed yesterday, killing one worker and injuring another in the southern province of Bac Lieu.
The workers fell when fixing the antenna.
The antenna is maintained by Thanh Tuan Production, Trade and Service Co Ltd. The company has provided the dead person's family with VND10 million (US$513). The injured worker is being treated at Cho Ray Hospital, HCM City. — VNS
