Storm Mindulle kills at least four, injures 20
HA NOI — Storm Mindulle has killed at least four people and injured 20 others after battering the central-coastal provinces.The National Flood and Storm Prevention and Control Committee reports the two people died in Quang Binh Province and one each in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces. Ten people aboard fishing vessel DNA 61408 TS out of Da Nang are listed as missing.
The storm caused 24 houses to collapse and unroofed more than 4,110 in Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue provinces.
Seven vessels from Thanh Hoa and Nghe An have sunk with 11 others damaged.
Floods have submerged 24,960ha of rice and 306ha of aquaculture.
Landslides have caused hours of traffic congestion in Quang Binh and Thua Thien-Hue.
Agriculture and Rural Development Minister and National Flood and Storm Prevention and Control Committee chairman Cao Duc Phat has issued instructions that require local officials to continue searching for the missing; support the families victims and help their communities deal with the storm's consequences.
They must quickly resolve electricity, communications and transport difficulties and continue to monitor the storm's progress.
Mindulle has weakened into a tropical low that is forecast to continue generating rains in central provinces from Nghe An to Thanh Hoa and the northern delta. — VNS
