Mexican artist to exhibit embroidery paintings in Da Lat

DA LAT — Oil paintings and sketches of the Central Highlands city of Da Lat by Mexican artist Daniel Rueffert, a resident of Mexico, will go on display during the annual flower festival that runs from today to next Tuesday.

Rueffert, 64, visited Da Lat XQ Hand-embroidery Company in June to learn "embroidery painting."

After returning to his homeland, he came back to Da Lat earlier this month to work. Pictures on display at the exhibition at XQ Embroidered Paintings Showroom depict local women, images of the Langbiang Highlands, flower markets and Da Lat City itself.

Also on display are four embroidery artworks he created in Mexico.

After the festival, the artworks will go on show at his studio in the US to introduce to the world Viet Nam's city of flowers, he said.
