Japanese guitarist to play in festive season concert

HA NOI — Japanese guitarist Sakaba Keisuke will perform at the Yamaha Christmas Concert to herald the festive season in the capital.
The 31-year-old guest artist honed his music skills at principal music schools such as the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris in France and the Chicago College of Performing Arts, where he was granted an MA in music in 2006.
Keisuke has won several national and international competitions, including first prize at the 2008 Padova International Music Competition in Italy, third prize at the 2007 French Union of Musical Artists (Union Francaise des Artistes Musiciens)'s International Music Competition in France, and the 2000 Spanish Music Guitar Competition in Japan.
He has performed together with several key artists such as Italians Oscar Gilia and Stefano Grondona, Frenchman Roland Dyens, Spaniard Manuel Babiloni and Americans Andrew Zohn and Stephan Aaron on stages all over the world.
He currently lives in Tokyo and gives performance as both a soloist and ensemble musician.
In the Yamaha Christmas Concert in Ha Noi, Keisuke will perform together with other Vietnamese artists, including cellist Tran Thi Mo and violinist Dao Mai Anh from the Viet Nam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO).
The artists will present masterpieces scored by Antonio Vivaldi, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Arcangelo Corelli, George Handel, and Franz Xaver Gruber.
Under the baton of Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji, the VNSO, the Children Palace Choir, and the VNSO Children Chorus will accompany the artists.
The concert will take place at the city Opera House at 8pm today and tomorrow.
