VN-Index continues to cheer investors
HA NOI – The VN-Index continued to cheer investors with an advance of 1.97 per cent to 467.8 points when it opened this morning.
The HCM City Stock Exchange traded 23.6 million shares worth VND595.1 billion (US$30.5 million) with 214 of 258 listed shares gaining ground.
Finance stocks STB rose 0.1 per cent and EIB 0.8 per cent.
But BVH dropped 0.5 per cent; CTG down 3 per cent and VCB 0.1 per cent.
Property stocks were positive with HAG up 0.5 per cent; SJS 3 per cent, KBC, 1 per cent and ITA, 0.9 per cent.
Financial and property stocks are prime movers on Viet Nam's two stock exchanges.
In Ha Noi, the HNX-Index added 3.69 per cent on last Wednesday's pre-holiday close to 136.52 points. Volume was high with 19.2 million shares worth VND462.3 ($23.7 million) traded.
Advancers outnumbered decliners 268:11.
The Government set a growth-target of 7.5 per cent and an inflation rate of 7 per cent as part of its economic programme for 2011 at the weekend.
It also announced the first eight-months had shown the economy was on course to meet this year's targets.
Rises on global markets during the last two days of last week is expected to give further impetus to the domestic markets. – VNS
