PM urges SoE restructuring

HA NOI — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has called on a redoubling of efforts in restructuring State-owned enterprises (SoEs).

According to the Prime Minister's instruction No 03/CT-TTg, restructuring is aimed at increasing SoEs' operational effectiveness and competitiveness.

He asked ministries, relevant agencies and People's Committees to complete mechanisms and policies, creating more favourable conditions for innovation of management, arrangement and transition of SoE ownership.

Plans to equitise SoEs must be completed and submitted for approval this month.

At the same time, ministries and localities are also asked to transfer State-owned capital to the State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC).

Government efforts to spur equitisation aim to ensure SoEs do not waste valuable public funds in non-core sectors. Equitisation also aims to ensure corporate governance capacity meets the development requirements of the socialist-oriented market economy. — VNS
