Free trade talks underline Viet Nam's renewal process
HA NOI — Viet Nam would actively participate in the first formal round of Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership negotiations in Melbourne, Australia, from Monday, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Nguyen Phuong Nga told a regular press briefing in Ha Noi yesterday.
The country would make positive and responsible contributions to the five-day talks for aspiring members of the regional free-trade agreement, or TPP, she said.
The spokeswoman emphasised that Viet Nam's participation showed the country's determination to continue with doi moi (renewal) and its policy for in-depth economic international integration.
"The negotiation process for an Agreement on Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership is an endeavour of Asia-Pacific nations aiming at increasing regional alliance and cooperation for peace and development," she said in answer to questions about Viet Nam's participation.—VNS
