CPI set for slight increase this month

The consumer price index (CPI) in September is likely to increase by 0.3-0.4 per cent over last month, according to the Domestic Market Management Team.

The rise in petrol prices and the devaluation of the dong against the US dollar last month have led to price hikes of several commodities.

HCM City needs 45,000 labourers

Companies in HCM City are looking to recruit 45,000 workers this month, up 30 per cent against last month, according to the city's Centre for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labour Market.

Fifty-five per cent of the new recruits will be unskilled workers.

Labour supply is also expected to increase this month, as more students graduate from universities, colleges and vocational schools.

Can Tho attracts four more projects

Industrial parks in Can Tho City have attracted four new projects with a total registered capital of US$35.5 million in the first eight months of the year. Seven existing projects have added a total capital of $31.3 million during the same period.

The city's industrial parks now have 187 projects with a total registered capital of $1.66 billion, including 22 foreign direct investment projects with a combined registered capital of $687.4 million.

Companies in the city's industrial parks earned revenues of $140 million last month, including $44 million from exports. The IPs employ a total of 32,185 workers.
