Ministry allows companies to set fuel prices
The Ministry of Finance's recently released Official Document 8984 gives petrol enterprises the autonomy to determine prices based on State regulations. New factory opens to supply drug industry
The country's first factory to produce raw materials for the pharmaceutical industry has opened in Bac Ninh Province's Tien Son Industrial Zone. The US$10 million factory's investor, the Viet Nam Pharmaceutical Chemistry Joint-Stock Company, said production capacity was 500 tonnes a year. The factory's products will serve local markets and export goals.

Educational agencies use free internet services
The Ministry of Education and Training's information technology department and its partner, Viettel Telecom, have completed their programme on offering free internet services for the ministry's educational offices. The programme also provides its users with software services such as e-learning, e-library and seminar webcam services. Viettel will spend VND350 billion (US$18.3 million) a year to run the programme.

HCM City improves cultural, historical sites
HCM City's Culture, Sports and Tourism Department and its partner, the Conservation Centre for Art and Historical Relics, plan to manage and improve 300 cultural and historical relics around the city. Most relics have become damaged by pollution and age. Local authorities will take stronger measures to preserve and introduce the importance of the relics to youth.
